Art Motel was an activation for the Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas, where we took over an abandoned motel downtown to create an explorable immersive installation. After first taking on 4 rooms of the motel in 2015, we were invited back in 2017 and given the entire space. I worked with individual artists across 12 rooms and within the collaborative courtyard space, integrating light and projection to articulate moments of interactivity and sequence evolving scenes alongside a spatial audio mix.
The baseline concept of the space was that of a bright and bubbly subaquatic environment, with waves of sound and light ebbing and flowing, the shifting tides sometimes bringing through mood-altering darkness or deep blue, and even a moment of a swirling stroboscopic maelstrom.
